Kinvarra Estate Wines ...just beyond the Salmon Ponds in the Derwent Valley Kinvarra is primarily a grazing property of some 740 hectares, running cattle on both irrigated and dryland pasture.   In 1990 a small vineyard was established, yielding its first vintage in 1994.   Of just one hectare, the vineyard is planted to Pinot Noir and Riesling.   Each year five wines are produced - Dry Riesling, Late Harvest Riesling, a Riesling Dessert Wine, Pinot Noir and a sparkling Pinot Noir Brut.  Yields vary around the eight tonne mark.  Begun as a hobby, the wine enterprise has been successful and has reached commercial size.  Since the first vintage in 1994, Kinvarra Estate has won numerous medals.
